Alvi & The Alviettes were the studio creations of Detlev Kühne, with help from Tom Dokoupil, who unfortunately released only one record. It’s merely a two song single, but you likely won’t forget their infectious melodies. “I’ll Go To” is highly repetitious and entrancing. It features a lower register voice punctuated with a higher female voice, pounding drums, and cold and eerie keyboards. On the B side, the beautifully soothing “Mon Amour” is a weird mix of powerful, almost menacing strings and dry electronics, opening with soft rain sounds, hushed vocals, and rapidly escalating toward an unexpected twist.
