The producer and musician of Apulian origins, Ennio Colaci, also known for his experience as part of the Minimono project and the long collaboration with Bosconi Records’ boss Fabio Della Torre, lands on New Interplanetary Melodies, armed with a camera to immortalize his soundscape full of contrasting emotions. FOTO, is made up of 12 musical shots (FOTO 1, FOTO 2, FOTO 3, etc.). All the tracks included in this CD , which we could define as a real concept-album, sound as if they were many different frames that make up a very varied but at the same time homogeneous subject, mixing purely electronic sounds with other more organic ones.
Colaci carefully and skillfully chooses all the elements for a very original result that smells of ambient with nuanced tones, which can sometimes lead to delicate noises, other times in tape reverse delay and guitars played by Piero Di Noi and subsequently reworked by Colaci himself (FOTO 1 and FOTO 7 but also FOTO 9 and FOTO 12), sunny drones (FOTO 3), tribal percussion and frenetic rhythms (FOTO 5 and FOTO 6) liquid arpeggios (FOTO 7 and FOTO 8), quirky & bleep sound in salsa jazz (FOTO 10 and FOTO 11) and field recording. Everything follows within it in a continuum that fills, beyond the ears, also the eyes of the listener, recalling images (FOTO) that transport the listener into the dimension of travel.
FOTO is an album that flows away fresh and fast like a mountain stream, giving us, within it, reflective pauses and moments of uncontrolled excitement, making us remember how important is to fully enjoy the experience (of the journey) even before photographing it.
